Chinese smartphone maker, Oppo, has been making quite a splash in the smartphone market and has been bringing its competitively priced devices to the US, UK and Indian markets. The new Oppo R819 was announced today and lovers of the Nexus experience will appreciate the new stock Android sideloading feature.
The Oppo R819 has been announced officially and it doesn’t seem to disappoint. The R819 features a 4.7-inch 720p HD touch display, a quad core processor with an unknown clockspeed, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, a 8MP Sony Exmor camera with an LED flash, a 2,000mAh battery and Oppo’s own Colour ROM. What makes it so special is the ability to sideload stock Android onto the device with a relatively painless procedure, and with the device’s competitive features it may be quite the Nexus alternative. The Oppo R819 will go on sale from select online retailers in September for $349 hitting quite the sweet spot.
Google seems to have dropped the idea for a new Nexus device at this year’s Google I/O, instead the company chose to give the new Samsung Galaxy S4 an oomphf by announcing the Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Edition, a version of the S4 running on a stock version of Android Jelly Bean.
The HTC First has barely been announced and it’s already making headlines again, it seems the supposed ‘Facebook phone’ is a midrange dream as it turns out the device is actually the harbinger of stock Android to those who love HTC, but hate Sense.
