Good news everyone, Samsung today announced that the Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 will be hitting US shores later this month, with AT&T offering the tablet-smartphone hybrid as soon as this Friday and Sprint and US Cellular’s release dates yet unannounced.

The Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 made big waves when it was announced earlier this year with a hefty 6.3-inch display and a relatively low price tag compared to their high end offerings. AT&T will be offering the oversized smartphone, or undersized tablet, for $149.99 on a two-year contract, or $24 on their new AT&T Next offering with the company’s LTE bands in full blast. Sprint will be offering the Galaxy Mega 6.3 for an undisclosed amount, though it will included unlimited data. US Cellular is yet to announce any pricing and available.

It remains to be seen whether or not the Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 will be making its way to the likes of Verizon Wireless and T-Mobile US.

Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch rumoured to launch next month

It seems that Samsung may lead the smartwatch race after all. According to new whispers, sparked by SamMobile’s inside sources, Samsung is set to launch their smartwatch, called the Samsung Galaxy Gear, as soon as early next month their pre-IFA 2013 Unpacked Part 2 event.

Smartwatches are set to be the biggest thing since the invention of popcorn by the squirrel from Ice Age and it seems that Samsung may very well lead this race. The South Koreans will apparently launch their Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch at their Unpacked Part 2 event in Berlin on September 4. The event is also set to feature the company’s new Samsung Galaxy Note III, the third generation ‘phablet’, a category they also sparked growth in despite previous attempts by other companies. Little is known about the Galaxy Gear, but rumours indicate that the patent filing above is quite accurate as the Galaxy Gear will supposedly feature two hardware buttons together with a flexible display.

Whether or not these rumours are true, Samsung might just one-up Apple by launching a mass market offering first. Share your opinions below!

Recent trademark filing suggest Samsung’s smartwatch will be called the Galaxy Gear

2013 may be the year of the snake, but 2014 will most definitely be the year of the smartwatch. Rumours that most of the known universe will be launching a smartwatch of their own has ensured that a huge hype surrounds any new information that should arise regarding any such products, so what about official confirmation, and a name, of what Samsung’s up to?

According to a recent trademark filing obtained by Galaxy Club, a Dutch publication, Samsung will be naming their own smartwatch the Samsung Galaxy Gear, and it sure does have a ring to it. The Galaxy Gear trademark was filed at the end of June and granted just a month later, giving Samsung the go ahead to launch such a product, maybe even this year! The device is described as follow; “Wearable digital electronic devices in the form of a wristwatch, wrist band or bangle capable of providing access to the Internet and for sending and receiving phone calls, electronic mails and messages; wearable electronic handheld devices in the form of a wristwatch, wrist band or bangle for the wireless receipt, storage and/or transmission of data and messages and for keeping track of or managing personal information; smart phones; tablet computers; portable computers.”

Is Samsung preparing to announce their smartwatch soon, maybe at their Unpacked event next month alongside the long awaited Samsung Galaxy Note III? Or maybe they’ll hold out a little bit longer as to not make the same mistake they made with the original Galaxy Tab 10.1, now named the Galaxy Tab 10.1v after Samsung reworked the device following the Apple iPad 2 launch.

Samsung Galaxy Note III to launch on September 4 at Unpacked event

without comments

samunpack

Samsung today not only announced that they were going to feature BlackBerry Messenger for Android on their own app store, but also sent out event invitations for the long awaited launch of the Samsung Galaxy Note III, along with a mighty ‘cryptic’ teaser.

The invitation pictures three boxes showing the date and noting the September 4 Unpacked event, with a block stating that we should “Note the date,” obvious hints going straight into the directions of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note III, which may very well be this year’s hottest oversized phone. Many supposed leaks and rumours have been flying around regarding the device, but let’s just state the likeliest. The Galaxy Note III will feature a larger 1080p screen, it will more than likely feature a Exynos 5 Octa SoC, it will come with a S Pen, it will have more bloatware than the Samsung Galaxy S4 did, are we close yet? The Samsung Galaxy Note III will undoubtedly face a lot of strong competition especially with Huawei’s low cost Ascend Mate, up to the upcoming HTC One Max.

The Samsung Galaxy Note III may be very hot, so mark that date people, September 4, 2013 in Berlin, Germany. The best part is; you can watch the livestream right out of the comfort of your home!

Samsung Galaxy Folder’s manual caught online, to feature dual flip screens

without comments

galaxy-folder

It feels like it was just yesterday when flip phones were to us what phablets are today, sadly that ‘yesterday’ was a decade ago and almost no one dares making a flip phone nowadays, except for the South Koreans that is. The Samsung Galaxy Folder is no new leak, but thanks to RBMen who tracked down its manual online, we now have a better glimpse into what Samsung has planned for its Asian buyers.

The Samsung Galaxy Folder SHV-E400K is set to be an Asian-exclusive, Android powered flip phone with an ancient T9 keyboard that only feature phones dare feature. The Galaxy Folder’s manual shows off a product that only Samsung would seem fit for the masses. The Galaxy Folder is set to feature dual displays, although it remains unclear whether or not both will be touch displays. One of the displays on the Galaxy Folder is set to be a 3.7-inch AMOLED display with a 800 x 480 pixel resolution. Other than the screen, the Galaxy Folder will pack a dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor as well as 2GB of RAM and support for LTE.

Other features as well as pricing and availability are still a no show, but knowing Samsung it shouldn’t be too long before the Galaxy Folder goes official, but whether it will go on sale outside of select Asian markets remain a mystery, a highly unlikely mystery.

samsung

Samsung has seemed to make it their life’s mission this year to reveal a new product each week and that is one of the main reasons as to why a mid year event such as the upcoming Samsung Premiere 2013 would be made such a hype of.
