The more we read about iOS 8 and learn how Apple is targeting fitness with deeper integration in the system, the more we get confident about the fact that the iWatch is not far away from seeing the light of day.
While the wearable tech. scenario is not new anymore considering that the competition is already catching up, with the latest announcement of Android Wear and partners like Motorola and LG, things are more heated up then ever. So how is Apple planning to differentiate themselves? The latest rumor suggests and interesting addition of a UV sensor which shall help users from getting excessive exposure to sun and avoid unnecessary sunburn.
According to the source, the device will include a special chip to measure this:
These chips measure UV exposure to aid those with elevated risk of sunburn or just a general concern about excessive sun exposure, and we believe they may be of appealing to OEMs looking to differentiate in a crowded market. To that end, while these products have seen little public hype thus far, we believe SLAB has a win in Apple’s upcoming iWatch (late 2H14 or early 2015).
The last line does sort of give you an idea about when we should be expecting the iWatch!
There is reason to talk about the iWatch since there was a rumour stating that when we got an update about a possible timetable. Another report later stated that Apple might not be able to cope with the mass production needs of this hardware pushing it to late 2014.

Apple is apparently planning to bring in two variants – one for men and the other for women with differences only in the screen sizes with one measuring 1.7 inches and the other at 1.3 inches respectively both boasting OLED displays for better readability. However, it’s wise to wait as of now till we have any word on what apple intends to make these devices work on and how different will they really be compared to current offerings.
