As we get close to one of the most anticipated events of 2014 – CES ’14, it is expected that hardware manufacturers like Nvidia, Broadcom and Nvidia are gearing up for launching 64 bit processors of their own.
Google and the various System-on-a-Chip (Soc) designers have been under pressure to bring 64-bit computing to Android. Just after Apple launched the iPhone 5S, Samsung’s CEO JK Shin confirmed that the Korean company planned to ship 64-bit SoCs next year.
Answering a very important question here, Is 64 bit important for Android? Well, the straight answer is No. As far as i’m aware Android is not at all capable of taking advantage of the 64 bit architecture and hence requires a major update. At this point there is very less known of how an overhaul like this is to mean anything to the end user and no where is this relevant question answered.
