Nokia charges a Lumia 925 with lightning!

without comments

Nokia and the University of Southampton has teamed up to create an ubercool new proof-of-concept showing that in the near future, gadget freaks may be able to charge their devices by using the power of lightning.

Researchers from Nokia and the University of Southampton have created some ground-breaking new technology that would allow pretty much anyone to make use of the humongous current that lightning generates during thunderstorms. The fantastic proof-of-concept shows how natural occuring lightning it used to generate a current small enough to charge a simple mobile phone, in this case the Nokia Lumia 925, which just happens to be made out of metal. The idea is most certainly something radically different from what others are up to and may bring a new meaning to the term “wireless charging.”
