It seems that the beleaguered Sony is hot on the heals of Samsung and Nokia with their latest smartphone camera ambitions. In the latest round of Sony-related leaks, Sony Alpha Rumours shows of the upcoming Sony CX10 and Sony CX100 “lens cameras” to be used with your smartphone or tablet.
The Sony “lens cameras” are without a doubt aimed at the Nokia Lumia 1020 and Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom and are quite a concept. The Sony CX10 (pictured above) is supposedly a point-and-shoot camera that lacks a screen and controls, it is controlled by your smartphone or tablet through WiFi and packs its own processor, SD card slot, zoom lens and an 18MP CMOS sensor to hit the sweet spot. The Sony CX100 is set to feature the same sensor as the RX100 Mark II, though little else is mentioned regarding it.
Sony is scheduled to host an event at IFA 2013 which is likely to feature the two cameras alongside the long rumoured Sony Honami which is rumoured to pack a compact 20.7MP sensor inside a dust and water resistant body.
