The Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch is all but confirmed at this stage after EVLeaks posted some screenshots of the upcoming wearable’s smartphone companion and control application; the Samsung Gear Manager, which confirms the name as well as some of the device’s features.
It seems as though Samsung might be leading the smartwatch race, but then again the early bird may catch the worm, but it is the second mouse that gets the cheese. The Galaxy Gear, going by the model name SM-V700, is set to launch alongside the Samsung Galaxy Note III next week at the company’s pre-IFA 2013 Unpacked Part II event. The device’s control application, the Samsung Gear Manager has leaked courtesy of EVLeaks confirming that the device will in fact feature NFC, Bluetooth and some other lovely tidbits. What the company’s exact plans with the watch is, remains uncertain, but they are likely to want to start the trend, just as they did with the Galaxy Note and phablets.
