It seems like LG is all about mobile display innovation, barely a month after showing off one of the world’s slimmest display panels, the company has shown off yet another new groundbreaking display prototype and boy are we excited to see this on smartphone!
LG has shown off a new smartphone display panel that they have dubbed the ‘quad HD’ display. Making use of an AH-IPS and LTPS the display features a bright 430 nits making sunlight legibility so much better. The ‘quad HD’ display features a whopping 2,560 x 1,440 pixels on a 5.5-inch panel, making its pixel density an industry leading 538ppi. At 1.21mm thick it’s almost half of last month’s slim 2mm panel and thanks to the 1.2mm bezel, smartphone users will be greatly appreciative to LG.
Sadly there is one catch, the company hasn’t announced any release date for any products making use of this marvel nor said when OEMs will be able to start testing their own devices with the display, but now that 1080p screen just doesn’t sound all that appealing anymore, does it?
