Undoubtedly one of the hottest stories from Cupertino this year, the budget-friendly version of the Apple iPhone may very well be called the Apple iPhone 5C, that is if the latest set of leaks straight out of manufacturer Pegatron, is to be believed. The leak, through an employee of the China Labour Watch, mentions a plastic clad iPhone that is coming to the market in the coming months and likely references the more affordable device.

The China Labour Watch is no one new, they’ve been around for a while now with the main intent being to keep an eye on factory worker’s wages as well as their labour conditions, something that has been the subject of a lot of scrutiny over the past, especially at Apple’s favourite manufacturer, Foxconn. The CLW recently launched a sting operation in which an employee was planted onto Pegatron’s factory floor to assess the conditions under which workers are forced to work in order to provide the world’s kid with the next iDevices. What the employee however revealed, was a confirmation of the upcoming budget-friendly iPhone, thus far called the iPhone Lite, iPhone Mini and more.
In the employee’s report s/he writes; “Today’s work is to paste protective film on the iPhone’s plastic back cover…” adding “This iPhone model with a plastic cover will soon be released on the market by Apple,” leaving the obvious conclusion; the ‘cheap’ iPhone is coming. Tagging along with the statement, WeiPhone also leaked an image earlier this weekend showing off possible plastic containers for an iPhone 5C, which could mean many things, with the two main options being: a knock off iPhone 5S or the budget iPhone won’t carry the ‘Mini’ moniker after all.
