Google’s I/O developer event has started, with the event’s keynote speech unveiling a bunch of delicious statistics for big G’s Android smart phone operating system including that there has been 900 million device activations to date.
Google has announced that there has been a total of 900 million Android device activations to date, which may very well turn into a full billion this year, which is up quite a bit from last year’s 400 million. They have also announced that a total of 48 billion applications have been installed on Android devices to date, closing in on Apple’s recently celebrated 50 billion, apparently 2.8 billion of those were in the last month.
Android may have just proved to be one of Google’s most successful acquisitions to date, paying off by the day. Stay tuned as the company unveils more later today.
