Intel CEO says Atom-powered Windows 8 tablets for $200 are on the horizon

with 1,903 comments

Windows 8 hasn’t received the feedback Microsoft has hoped for, with tablets powered by the operating system selling for outrageously high prices and other cheaper offering outperforming them, a new option is needed. Intel’s CEO has the answer.

Have you tried out the next best thing for your phone/tablet? Take a look at our Amzer ShatterProof screen protectors!

According to Intel’s CEO, Paul Otellini, upcoming Windows 8 tablets powered by the company’s Atom SoC will reach price points as low as $200, providing Windows 8 with a foot to step on in the war against the likes of iOS and Android in the huge tablet market. Otellini noted that the tablets would arrive in the near future, but no exact timeframe was given.

With Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 3, Apple’s iPad 5 and some new offerings from the likes of Sony, Amazon and more on the horizon, Windows 8 powered tablets will need to bring something new to the table in order to compete, could the upcoming Windows Blue update be just that? Only time will tell, let us know what you think!
