Roughly 18 months after launching BBM Music, BlackBerry is killing off the social music service and referring users to one of their competitors. From June the company will no longer allow users their 50 song playlist to share with friends over the company’s BBM instant messaging service.

BlackBerry today announced that BBM Music will be going the way of Google Reader effective June 2 with April being the last month that users will be charged. BlackBerry has referred users to music streaming service Rdio and sent out vouchers for a 30 day pass to the service.
BBM Music was expected to be integrated into the BBM for BlackBerry 10 application and after the platform was officially launched with the service many doubted that BlackBerry would support it for much longer with some suggesting the company was working on a new music service, which doesn’t seem to be the fact.
