For years Apple has been using their own branded processors in their portable devices and until recently most of those processors were made by Samsung, but as legal battles between the two companies continues to worsen, Apple is shifting away from Samsung as a parts supplier. Rumours suggest that Intel might make some of their next generation of processors.
Like all rumours nowadays, take this with a pinch of salt. As Apple shifts away from Samsung as a supplier, they will move towards other, more capable suppliers, one of them being Intel. Apparently Apple will give Intel the task to create 10% of the total amount of Apple A7 processors which is rumoured to be powering the next iPad and iPhones. Samsung will keep on making 50% of all of the processors with TSMC taking the remaining 40% share.
